Lootbound Beginner Guide: First Run, Gear, and Auras

Lootbound beginner guide for your first run: what to do first, how gear and auras work, and the combat habits that keep early runs alive today.

Short answer

Your first Lootbound run is for learning three loops, not for winning: pack gear that fits your backpack shapes, place it for aura bonuses, and spend mana in initiative order. Everything else — builds, tier rankings, unlock routes — follows from those three.

The three loops, in order

  1. 1

Inventory loop. After each fight, decide before pickup: does this item fit without breaking a placement bonus? If not, it is not an upgrade.

  2. 2

Placement loop. The same gear on a different square grants a different bonus. Repack during downtime and stop touching pieces that already give your build what it needs.

  3. 3

Combat loop. Check initiative order first, then your mana. An ability you cannot afford next turn changes this turn’s plan.

Your first ten minutes

  • Read the store description’s promises, not day-one guides’ numbers. The official frame is confirmed; specific values from day-one videos are not.
  • Pick one aura and build around it. Two half-built bonuses lose to one complete one.
  • Recruit when offered. The store description says you lead allies on a path of adventure; treat recruitment as a system, not a side quest.

Common early mistakes

  • Treating the backpack like a bag. It is a board; every square is a decision.
  • Copying a layout without knowing the driver. Learn which piece creates the bonus before copying the shape.
  • Trusting unverified codes. No codes are confirmed for Lootbound at launch; any launch-day codes list is fabrication by definition.
  • Buying into launch-day tier lists. Rankings need reproducible data; ours stays noindex until it has some.
